Through the Märkische Heide heathland with 1 hp

The tour starts in Pretschen, where equestrianism and horse-breeding have long been a tradition. Set in woodland and meadows, this idyllic village is the ideal starting point for hacks out on the Märkische Heide heathland.

As you ride along the "Great Spree", you reach Alt Schadow. Places of peace and tranquillity. On your ride, you'll encounter time and again people who are horse-lovers. Through broadleaved forests and mixed woodland, you reach the "Schäferpusch" and then return along the "Pretschen Spree".

What could be better than riding past fragrant meadows while exploring all the beautiful features of the land that are celebrated in Brandenburg's unofficial anthem, "Märkische Heide" by Gustav Büchsenschütz?

Woodland and meadow hacks

On this extended hack for experienced riders which starts out from Schmogrow, the route takes you through the idyllic woodland and meadow countryside via the small Spreewald village of Byhleguhre by Lake Byhleguhre. The house by the lake provides fortification for both horse and rider during a one-hour break.

In fine weather, you won't be able to resist a stop for a refreshing swim in the lake. Once refreshed, the route continues around Lake Byhleguhre to the Florentine, an oak that has stood for over a thousand years. It is the most substantial oak still standing on the Byttna long-distance footpath. According to legend, the "Byttna" was a Slavic sanctuary in a copse of oaks on the edge of the Spreewald lowlands. From there, the hack continues over the Mühlenberg to Byhleghure and back to the Schmogrow riding centre.
