The Voivodeship
[Province] of Lubuskie is one of the three Polish regions that border Germany.
As a result, the
population in the voivodeship has far more contact with Germans than local
people elsewhere in the country.
Contact with Western Europe is very much the norm here. The companies
that operate in the voivodeship - ranging from small garden gnome manufacturers
to large corporate businesses - are more focused than others on Western
markets.

| The Northwest Overijssel region |
|
The northwest of the
Dutch province of
Overijssel is a "land" of
hummocks (i.e. floating islands made of reed) and quagmire (i.e. fenland that
rests on the water). De Weerribben National Park (3,500 ha.) and its neighbour
De Wieden National Park (10,000 ha.) are areas that sparkle with small lakes,
ditches (defensive) and peat deposits (ridges) formed by the wind.
Both nature reserves
have developed as a result of the formation of peatlands from a rise in the
water table and/or peat extraction. Billions of peats were exported as a fuel
from Northwest Overijssel to other parts of Holland. The area is teeming with wildlife,
and its great wealth of sometimes rare aquatic and marshland plants, insects,
mammals and waterfowl is unique in Europe.
