Hiking around Lake Groß Leuthen

Once around the Groß Leuthener See, which is located in the largest village of the municipality of Mäkische Heide, Groß Leuthen!

Head for the pretty Schlossstraße, where you can immediately discover the first sight in the Spreewald: the village church built of turf stones, where you should definitely make your first stop before continuing to the magnificent Renaissance castle, which was built in the 16th century on the foundation walls of a moated castle.

On the way to Groß Leuthener Weg, you will hike through a romantic floodplain forest area before crossing the lake tributary and encountering the foundation of the Sanatogen pavilion there. Here you will also encounter the first information boards that line the path and introduce you to the local flora and fauna. Need some rest for your tired feet? No problem, because a rest area with a small bathing lake in the Spreewald just before the settlement of Klein Leuthen lies directly in front of you.

One of the most impressive sections of this hike is the walk around the eastern lake area. Can you already make out the first houses? Great, then you're about to reach the village of Groß Leuthen and have thus successfully completed the tour!
