The destination Luckau (Łukow)
Luckau is a beautiful town with a historical city center located in the Spreewald and has much to offer for tourists and locals. On a stroll through town you get to discover many beautiful sights, such as the picturesque old town, the impressive church St. Nikolai and the city park. The nature exploration grounds Wanninchen and the nature park Niederlausitzer Landrücken are also well worth a visit.
Throughout the year the city offers a variety of city tours. Among others tour participants get to enjoy themselves on a tour following Napoleon’s footsteps, on a historical night tour or get to learn more about the churches, monesteries and prisons against the backdrop of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.
Sights in Luckau
In the center of the old town, the hall church of St. Nikolai rises up next to baroque houses and attracts visitors with the sounds of the richly decorated organ. The historic city center is surrounded by a 1.8 km long city wall, which is completely preserved and worth every step oft he way.
The former Dominican monastery once offered accommodation for Karl Liebknecht, houses the Niederlausitz Museum today. A permanent exhibition presents the riches of the city of Luckau as well as the history of the law enforcement system. The Museum of Humor and Satire is now located in the former law enforcement institution.
Activities in Luckau
Within the former monastery grounds there is an indoor playground for children, who get to cavort on trampolines, ball pools and rainbow slides. The city park and the themed gardens on the Schlossberg grounds invite you to long walks in beautiful nature. The surrounding nature parks and lakes promise an idyllic setting for cycling and hiking tours in the Spreewald.

Events in Luckau
In March you can visit the "Luckau shines" event, in April the Tulip Festival takes place, in June the Türmerfest attracts visitors to Luckau, in July you can experience the Luckau Boat Night and in December you can stroll along the Christmas market and with a mulled wine to keep you warm.
In addition to those events, the KUNSTRAUM SPREEWALD organizes the art exhibition SPEKTRALE in September. During the exhibition time Luckau bustles with art and becomes a creative art space including an art exhibition, a children's project and a cultural history exhibition.
The PlusBus route 472 connects the cities of Luckau and Lübben and offers bus rides every day. From Monday to Friday there is a bus connection every hour. The stop at Lübben train station also provides a direct connection to and from Berlin via the RE2 regional express line.
