The village of Goyatz

(Gójac)

The state-recognised resort of Goyatz is located on the southern shore of Lake Schwielochsee, the largest natural lake in Brandenburg.

With its bathing beaches, the numerous water sports facilities and the well-developed network of cycling and hiking trails, Goyatz has always been a popular holiday destination in the Upper Preewald. Lake Schwielochsee offers the best conditions for an active or recreational holiday not far from Berlin.

The most famous son of the region is the Australian explorer Ludwig Leichhardt, who grew up at Lake Schwieloch in the 19th century. His mysterious disappearance during an Australian expedition made him a legend here.

Sights & Activities in Goyatz

Goyatz on Lake Schwieloch is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts and nature lovers. Sailing, rowing and motor boats can be hired directly on site. But guest moorings are also provided by the local sailing or motor sports clubs.

Those who prefer to spend time by the water rather than on it will find peace and quiet at the bathing spots around Lake Schwieloch. Fishing permits are available at the campsite in Goyatz.

Hikers and cyclists can follow the Leichhardt Trail. It leads over 54 km from Trebatsch, Ludwig Leichhardt's birthplace, to Branitz near Cottbus and is marked with a black kangaroo on a yellow background. According to tradition, the young Leichhardt often walked this trail. Visitors can get more information about the Leichhardt Trail at the Goyatz Tourist Information Centre.
